Why is there no rating on my store widget badge?

If you've enabled the Google's store widget on your store but it shows "Rating not available" instead of a star rating, this is normal behaviour it means you haven't yet met Google's threshold for displaying a rating.

The review threshold

You need enough reviews from a specific country during the past year for your store rating to appear on the badge for visitors in that country. In most cases, merchants need around 100 eligible reviews before a rating is displayed.

There is no minimum star rating required, even a lower rating will display once the threshold is met. If you don't have enough reviews, the badge will simply show "Rating not available" rather than hiding completely.

Why your reviews might not count yet

A few factors can affect whether reviews count toward the threshold:

  • Country-specific - Reviews don't pool across countries. You need to meet the threshold independently in each country where you want a rating to appear. The country is based on the customer's delivery address.

  • Rolling 12-month window - Only reviews from the past 12 months count. Older reviews drop out over time, so you need a continuous flow of new reviews.

  • Multiple sources - Google calculates store ratings from several sources, not just Google Customer Reviews. Third-party review aggregators and Google's own shopping research also contribute. However, Google Customer Reviews is a key input.

What you can do

  • Keep the app running - The more orders that flow through your store with the checkout block active, the more opportunities customers have to opt in and contribute to your review count.

  • Be patient - Building up to 100 reviews takes time, especially for newer or smaller stores. The badge will automatically update once the threshold is met.

  • Check your Merchant Center dashboard - Monitor the opt-ins received and surveys offered charts to confirm that data is flowing. See Where can I see my Google Customer Reviews?.

The badge is still useful without a rating

Even without a visible star rating, the badge indicates your participation in the Google Customer Reviews program. Once you accumulate enough reviews, the rating will appear automatically, there's no additional setup needed.

Top Quality Store badge

The Top Quality Store badge is a separate, higher distinction based on Google's Store Quality program. It evaluates additional factors beyond just reviews, including shipping, returns, and website quality. See Understanding Google's store ratings badge for further details.
