Google's Store Widget will display either the Top quality store widget, Store rating widget, or Store quality widget on your storefront, depending on your store’s current eligibility and available data.
It's an optional feature, but it's a great way to build trust with visitors by showcasing your rating.
How to enable the widget
The widget is delivered as a theme app embed, which you enable through the Shopify Theme Editor.
In your Shopify admin, go to Online Store > Themes.
Click Customize on your active theme.
In the Theme Editor, open App embeds (usually found in the left sidebar or under the settings icon).
Find Easy Google Customer Reviews in the list of app embeds.
Toggle it on.
Configure the widget settings (see below).
Click Save.
You can also access this directly from the Overview > Current configuration > Store Widget row. You will see a Configure Widget button which will take you straight to the right place in the Theme Editor.
Widget settings
Once the embed is enabled, you can configure the following options in the Theme Editor:
Position - Choose whether the badge appears in the bottom-right or bottom-left corner of the page.
Side margin - The horizontal distance (in pixels) from the edge of the screen. Default is 21px on desktop, 11px on mobile.
Bottom margin - The vertical distance (in pixels) from the bottom of the screen. Default is 33px on desktop, 19px on mobile.
These settings let you fine-tune the badge placement so it doesn't overlap with other elements on your site, such as chat widgets or cookie banners.
When will the badge show a rating?
The badge will only display a seller rating once Google has collected enough review data. In most cases, merchants need around 100 eligible reviews in a rolling 12-month period for a specific country before a rating appears. Until then, the badge may show "Rating not available."
For more details on the rating threshold, see Why is there no rating on my store rating badge?.
What happens when a customer clicks the badge?
When a visitor clicks the badge, they're taken to your store's ratings landing page on Google for their country. This is standard behaviour built into Google's widget and cannot be changed.
See Can I customise the store widget badge? for more on what can and can't be adjusted.
Checking the widget status
Within the app's overview, the Store Widget row shows whether the theme app embed is currently enabled or not. If it's not enabled, you'll see an Add to theme button to get it set up quickly.
If you installed the app prior to March 2026, then you may not be using the Theme app embed method for enabling the Store widget. Please get in touch if you need any help enabling the theme app embed.
