Your Store Rating from Google is the aggregate star rating that appears alongside your ads and listings on Google. It's one of the key benefits of participating in the Google Customer Reviews program. Here's how it works.
What are store ratings?
Store ratings are a 1–5 star rating that represents the quality of the overall shopping experience your store provides. They can appear in Google Search ads, Google Shopping listings, and on the Google Customer Reviews badge on your website.
According to Google, store ratings on text ads drive an average 2% improvement in click-through rate on the Search network. They help build trust with potential customers and can drive more qualified shoppers to your store.
Where do store ratings come from?
Google calculates store ratings using data from multiple sources, not just Google Customer Reviews. These include:
Google Customer Reviews - The post-purchase surveys collected through the program (and delivered by our app).
Third-party review aggregators - Google partners with independent review websites to source additional feedback.
Google-led shopping research - Aggregated performance metrics from Google's own assessment of the shopping experience.
This means your store rating may include data from sources beyond what our app delivers. It also means that even if you're collecting reviews through our app, your overall rating will reflect the broader picture of your store's reputation.
Requirements for displaying a store rating
You need enough reviews from a specific country during the past year for your store rating to appear for users in that country. In most cases, merchants need around 100 eligible reviews to obtain a visible rating. A few things to keep in mind:
The threshold is country-specific - reviews from customers in the US count toward your US rating, reviews from the UK count toward your UK rating, and so on.
It's a rolling 12-month window - older reviews drop out, so you need a steady flow of new reviews to maintain your rating.
A minimum rating of 3.5 stars is required for store ratings to appear on ads.
Where does the store rating appear?
Store ratings can appear in several places across Google's ecosystem: alongside Google Search ads (as seller ratings), on Google Shopping product listings, on your Google Customer Reviews badge, and within Google Shopping search results next to your store name.
How our app contributes
Our app handles the Google Customer Reviews side of the equation by collecting opt-ins from your customers and sending the data to Google so they can deliver the survey.
The more customers who opt in and complete the survey, the faster you'll build up your store rating.
